Coffee-PR in Australia

Australia is definitely a “coffee country”. Coffee is the most important part of the day and the most popular beverage amongst students, office workers, moms with kids, policemen, firemen and teachers. Coffee is sipped everywhere – in cafes, on beaches, at your uni desk, while shopping. White or black, sugar or Splenda, ‘takeaway’ or ‘having here’ – coffee is an inevitable part of the Aussie culture.

This story is about how the culture of the country can reflect in the business.

Here is a couple of examples how some of the PR-agencies in Australia use the coffee theme in their every day work.

There’s the web studio that designed a coffee mug logo, created a slogan “website for a price of a cup of coffee a day” and launched the clients’ prices with the following names: Saucer, Cup, Espresso Crema, Flat White and Baby Chino. Obviously, the agency’s domain name makes you think that you are in a coffee shop just ordering your favourite cup of coffee. Isn’t it sweet? :)

Another PR agency with a very creative website (a must-see) decided that their Contacts and Place the Order pages should have an additional tab – the one where you say what you are going to drink at the meeting with the sales people of the agency. Instead of “Get a Quote” or “Get in Touch” you have almost the lunch options: Tea or Coffee? White or Black? Sugar or No Sugar? Piece of Cake or a Sandwich? I would really want to drop by just to check my order :)

Well, and Espresso Communications just call themselves after the most popular coffee in the world!

We believe that those small and simple things help to create the image of a company with a human approach – not something visually abstract, but something natural and friendly. It helps to break the ice of the “first contact”.
